Efforts to oppose Canada Post's SSMB (Self-Serve MailBox) implementation have continued:

On Talavera Cres. concerned residents continue to hold off SSMB's 65 days and counting.

On Magnolia, our garden grows.

Due to delays in installation of SSMBs across the city, Canada Post has postponed their October 19th 'go live' date. However citizen's concerns continue to fall on deaf ears at Canada Post.

Now it’s time to bring our message to our federal candidates in London. 

Canada Post belongs to all of us, and it is accountable to our federal government. Please sign our new petition and add your voice to the growing opposition to the Conservatives' cuts to our public postal service.

Sign our NEW petition to stop the cuts to door-to-door

Dear Londoners, 

Thank you for your support of our efforts to save door-to-door mail delivery in London.

Many of you have already signed our petition asking the City of London’s elected officials to oppose the cuts to door-to-door delivery, and on August 11 2015 and thanks to you we delivered nearly 2900 signatures to London City Hall. We need your support still.

Because of nationwide opposition, concerned Canadians like you have made saving door-to-door delivery a 2015 federal election issue, and all five major parties have taken a position.

On Election Day, please vote to support our public postal service. 

Following creative efforts to express community opposition to Canada Post's imposed mailboxes including garden installations by local artist Ron Benner, the corporation has delayed its date for community mailboxes to “go live” in London. 

Now it’s time to bring our message to our federal candidates in London.

ACTION: How request changes in proposed locations of self-serve mailboxes in London

Taking Action against Self-Serve Mailbox Installations

Have you received notice from Canada Post that they will be installing a “Community Mail Box” (aka SSMB or Self-Serve Mailbox) near where you live? It is NOT too late to take action.

If you want to put in a “change request” you should contact Canada Post and the City of London and explain why you think the location is problematic (i.e., too close to intersection or trees, will cause traffic/idling problems, inadequate lighting, no sidewalk, or other safety / privacy etc. issues).

Of course, we would prefer not to see any SSMBs at all in our communities, but it is important to use the existing mechanisms as much as possible in the time that we have. Every delay in implementation, every study of moving one location to another brings us closer to the time (Election Day, October 19) when we can begin reverse this wrong-headed plan.
